Ouachita Artists Demonstration w/Jan Briggs
Jan Briggs will show how to use products of nature as tools to make paintings in a demonstration at Ouachita Artists Gallery and Studio in Mt. Ida on the Courthouse Square. The event starts at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 20, and is free and open to the public. For more information call 870-867-3115.

The Mount Ida Senior Activity Center located at 158 Senior Drive, Mount Ida will host an All you can eat PIZZA, served with salad and desserts, fundraiser on Friday, March 24th starting at 5:00 p.m. Proceeds are for the Home Delivered Meals Program.
Price $10.00, 6 years and under is $4.00 each.

Ouachita Challenge
Now in its second decade, this unique event provides a sixty plus mile loop and two days of mountain bike touring and racing on two of our best trails. The Ouachita Trail is known for its challenging climbs, vast technical sections, and scenic views of the Ouachita River. The Womble Trail (an IMBA Epic) is known for its fast trails and scenic views of the Ouachita Mountains and valleys. Volunteers Needed.

Ouachita Artists Workshop featuring Alcohol Ink Technique
Ouachita Artists Gallery and Studio on the Courthouse Square in Mt. Ida will sponsor a workshop on the alcohol ink technique of producing art on Friday, March 31. The session, taught by Teri Sargent, will begin at 10 a.m., break for lunch, and continue into the afternoon. Fee is $60, and all supplies are furnished. Registration is limited. Come by the gallery or call 870-867-3115 to register.

Kick up your heels and enjoy an evening of food and country music.
A dinner plate of roasted chicken for $10 will be served at 5:30. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door. This is a fundraiser to replace the roof on the Roosevelt Auditorium.

37th Annual Quartz, Quiltz, and Craftz Festival
The Quartz, Quiltz, & Craftz Festival (QQC) is three shows in one, a Gem & Mineral Show, a Quilt Show, and an Arts & Crafts Show. The event takes place annually on the second weekend in October at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Mount Ida, Arkansas - the "Quartz Crystal Capital of the World". This year, the 37th Annual QQC Festival takes place October 13th, 14th & 15th. Three buildings at the fairgrounds each feature one of the three shows with additional gem & mineral booths and food vendors outside. Admission is Free. Attendees can enter a free drawing for door prizes which will be announced periodically throughout the day and may purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win this year’s featured quilt. The QQC Festival also features two quartz crystal digging competitions, the "World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig" and the "K-6 Kids' Dig", providing opportunities for rockhounds of all ages to experience the joy of finding their own buried treasure!

30th Annual World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig
The World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig is a two-day amateur crystal digging competition for Adults and Young Miners (ages 17 and under). The event takes place Friday & Saturday, October 13th & 14th. Entrants can dig at their choice of two participating mines, Twin Creek Crystal Mine and Sweet Surrender Crystal Mine. Over the course of two days, diggers get keep all they find and submit their best point and cluster each day to compete for crystal adorned award plaques and $2100 in total prize money. Members of gem & mineral and rockhounding clubs can compete against rival clubs for bragging rights and a
chance to win a free entry to next year’s event!

Grade school aged children pay $1 dig in a tailings pile prepared by
Dixie Crystal Mining Co.  with crystals from their Twin Creek Crystal Mine
at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Awards and prizes for 1st & 2nd place in
K-3rd and 4th-6th divisions. Educational presentation by Sandra Chandler of the
Arkansas Geological Survey. Awards ceremony & Door Prizes.
