CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. I fully understand that the contest involves physically
strenuous work. I am in good general health, and do not have a history of heart,
back or other health problems that might be aggravated by participation in this
contest. By my signature appearing at the end of this registration form, I
hereby waive and release all other contestants, the sponsor, co-sponsor, and
officials from all claims, actions, or rights based on tort, contract, or
otherwise arising from, incurred in connection with, or aggravated by
participation in this contest. I further understand and agree that the Quartz
Crystal Committee reserves the right to refund this entry fee if it shall
choose, for any reason, to do so. If I should win a prize, I will be willing to
submit to a polygraph examination if, in the opinion of the judges,
circumstances should justify it.

Rules for Diggers
Two Divisions: Crystal Points and Clusters
$1,500.00 in Prize Money
Drawings each day for prizes!
- Digging hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The digging dates are
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 9, 10 & 11 2008. You must
assemble each morning at the Assay Office, located at the fairgrounds,
for a brief orientation.
- Keep all the crystals you dig. The crystals turned in for judging will be
returned at the conclusion of the contest. You must do your own digging.
- Contestants are at liberty to set their own schedule within the above time
frame. Dig as many hours or as few as you like.
- Numbered sacks will be issued each day of the dig. Diggers are required to
pick up sacks each morning at the fairgrounds. Only the Dig Masters can turn
sacks in at the Assay Office. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- Diggers will not be allowed into digging areas until 9:00 a.m. Dig Masters
will stop the digging at 3:00 p.m.
- Participating mines: Pending......
- Contestants may use only hand tools; shovel, hoe, pick, screwdriver, etc.
and must furnish them. Crystals can be sharp - you may want to bring gloves.
- Contestant will not be allowed to practice dig in participating mines on
Wednesday before the dig so the mine owners can make preparations for the dig.
- Contestant must not be engaged in the quartz crystal mining business.
- Ages 10-16 will be allowed to compete in the dig, but must have adult
supervision.
- If an emergency arises and you must leave the competition, you may turn in
three bags for judging. Your Dig Master must be informed.
- If you arrive later than Thursday, officials will sign and date your
sacks, to be entered with your Dig Master, on the first day you dig. If you
dig, you must turn in for that day.
- Our judges know the area and the clay from each mine, and if they feel a
"Ringer" (a crystal from another mine) has been placed in the contest, they
will judge accordingly. The participant will "go before" the judges.
- At the conclusion of the day's dig (3:00 p.m.) deposit your best point and
your best cluster (not to exceed the 10 lbs. limit) with your Dig Master, who
will bring them to the Assay Office. The judges will assign a monetary value
to your crystals and it will be posted on the tote boards.
- The decision of the judges will be final.
- In the case of a tie, the prize money will be divided and a coin toss will
determine the first place trophy winner.
- Pre-registration: $75 prior to October 1. The fee after October 1:
$90.
- No refunds after October 1.

PRIZE MONEY DIVISIONS AND TROPHIES:
It is possible to win places in either division - cluster or point.
You could even win more than one place in a division.
First place $250.00 cash plus crystal trophy
Second place $200.00 cash plus crystal trophy
Third place $150.00 cash
Fourth place $100.00 cash
Fifth place $50.00 cash
Remember these places are paid in two different divisions,
which means you are competing in two separate contests.
